FAQ: music licenses for courses

Short, precise answers for course operators who want to know whether Spotify in the course is enough, what applies to social media, and when participant access must be covered separately.

Rights & scope

What is allowed in the course and what is not automatically included

Course use, social media, and protected participant access are intentionally separated so you do not buy too little or the wrong product.

Pricing & structure

Why phases and total target duration matter

Phases help structure the course. Their target durations form the price-relevant total for the course.

Purchase & records

What becomes available after purchase

ZIP archive, license document, and invoice appear separately and not necessarily at the same time.

Rights & scope

Course licenses, participant access, and scope boundaries

Is Spotify, Apple Music, or a normal CD enough for my course?

For commercial courses, normal streaming or private CD use is often not a sufficient usage basis. If you want to use music cleanly in the course, you should choose the matching license scope.

Which course license do I need?

If the music is only used inside the actual course, Course use is usually enough. As soon as you also publish posts, trailers, or course promo with it, you need at least Course use + social. Once participants should receive access in a protected area, Course use + social + participant access is the matching package.

May I film my course with music and post excerpts on social media?

Not automatically. As soon as music also appears in posts, reels, trailers, or course promo, you need at least the course license with social media. Course use alone does not cover that.

May I provide the music to participants?

Yes, but not in every package. Protected participant areas, members areas, or download areas are only included in the package with participant access.

May I offer paid course content or a members area with this music?

Yes, but only with the course license with participant access. As soon as participants access the content in a protected or paid area, exactly that scope must be covered.

Are open platform use, sublicensing, or resale allowed?

No. This license is not an open platform model and not a resale product. If you want to market or pass on the music beyond the clearly defined course scope, direct online licensing here is not sufficient.

Is this a subscription or a practice-room model?

No. Here you license music once for a defined course use case. It is not a subscription, not an instore product, and not a model for ongoing in-room playback.

Pricing & structure

Total target duration, phases, and track selection

Why is total target duration price-relevant?

For courses, the sum of all phase target durations reflects planned music demand better than simply counting individual tracks. That is why pricing combines course license plus total target duration.

What are phases or playlists for in course licensing?

Phases help break your course into meaningful sections such as arrival, warm-up, main part, or cool-down. You then select suitable tracks for each phase in its own context.

Must the final track runtime match the target duration exactly?

Not necessarily. Target duration is a planning and pricing frame. For your selection, the main point is that the music fits the course structure; for pricing, the planned total target duration is what mainly matters.

Is track selection just a free search?

No. You always search and choose tracks for a specific course phase, not as an unstructured overall package. This keeps your music selection close to your actual course structure.

Purchase & records

ZIP archive, license document, individual tracks, and invoice

What do I receive after purchase?

For the course order, you receive a license document, a ZIP archive with the selected tracks, and the invoice in your account. These three items are available separately.

What is the difference between ZIP archive, individual tracks, license document, and invoice?

The ZIP archive is the bundled delivery of your selected course tracks. Individual tracks are the actual audio files within that delivery. The license document proves the rights scope of your order. The invoice is the commercial record for accounting and payment.

When is the ZIP archive available?

After a successful online payment, the license document is available immediately and the ZIP archive is then generated in the background. With invoice payment, the invoice is available first; ZIP archive and license document are unlocked after payment has been received.

Can I choose the tracks myself?

Yes. You choose the tracks yourself and assign them phase by phase. This lets you align the music precisely with your course structure.

License music for your intended use

We check whether a track can be licensed for your use based on the specific track and usage context, including your selected channels, territory, and term. The resulting license defines which uses it covers. If your case cannot be assessed automatically, we review it individually.
