MP3 or WAV? The short decision guide
MP3 for uploads and sharing
MP3 files are much smaller and work well for uploads, approvals, presentations, and digital publishing.
WAV for editing and archiving
WAV is delivered as 16-bit PCM and is the better choice when you plan to continue editing the file in audio or video software.
How the conversion works
- Choose a file and upload it securely
- Choose MP3 or WAV and set the metadata option
- Download the validated result
The file is checked server-side for format, file size, duration, and basic audio data. The result is technically validated after processing as well.
Who is this audio converter for?
The audio converter is useful for creators, agencies, podcasters, video teams, and businesses that need the right file format quickly — without opening a full DAW, meaning audio software for extensive editing.
Metadata is embedded information such as a title or artist. This workflow does not remove noise or repair recording defects.
Frequently asked questions about the audio converter
Can I convert WAV, AIFF, or MP3 online?
Yes. You can upload common audio formats such as WAV, AIFF, and MP3 and output them as MP3 or WAV. The upload is technically checked before processing.
Should I choose MP3 or WAV as the output?
MP3 is the compact choice for uploads, sharing, and publishing. WAV is the better choice when you need an uncompressed PCM file for further editing or archiving.
Which metadata can I remove?
With “Remove metadata”, embedded information such as title data is not carried into the new file. With “Keep metadata”, existing information is transferred to the output where supported.
Which technical settings does the output use?
The output is standardized to 44.1 kHz and delivered as a stereo file. MP3 is created at 192 kbps; WAV is delivered as 16-bit PCM. Very large WAV results may be rejected because of their technical file size. The finished file is checked again after conversion.
Do I need an account or audio software?
No. The free workflow works without an account or additional audio software. Choose a file, select the output, and download the result.
Does this workflow remove noise?
No. This workflow converts the audio and can remove embedded metadata. It does not remove noise or repair recording defects.
